New Flooring Instructor Hired for Northeast Ohio Training Center

4/24/2006 --

Craig S. Rosala has been appointed as a full-time instructor in the four-year floor covering program offered at the Northeast Ohio Carpenters’ Joint Apprenticeship and Training Center in Richfield.

Rosala, who has more than 30 years of professional experience as a union floor installer and project site manager, recently completed the instructor program at the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners International Training Center in Las Vegas.

“My objective is to teach apprentices the skills they will need to become quality journeymen — and to instill in the apprentices a good work attitude and strong work ethic,” he said.

The Richfield training center serves union carpenter apprentices and journeymen from 27 Ohio counties and four counties in West Virginia. The center, which also offers programs in residential and commercial carpentry, cabinetry-millwork and millwright-pile driving, has a cooperative program with the Cuyahoga Community College that allows apprentices to pursue an associate’s degree in Applied Industrial Technology as they complete their union training.

The center also offers update and refresher courses for journeyman craftsmen, and Rosala said such continuing education programs are an important part of his specialty.

“The chemical composition of flooring materials and adhesives change yearly,” said Rosala, who has earned certification from the nation’s top floor covering manufacturers. “Proper installation is a key faction in how a material looks and performs.”
